Behind the Scenes - the making of Odon
Take a look behind the scenes of a ballet company in this fascinating YouTube documentary.
Artistic director Sylvia Tomova and choreographers Marcelo Molina and Eleni Markou describe their choreographic process, as we gain an insight into how a large-scale contemporary ballet work is created, accompanied by footage of rehearsal with the company dancers, the scenographer, conductor and orchestra, and more.
Composers Mark J Saliba and Mark John McEncroe McEncroe wrote the score – A medieval tale of the Kingdom of Odon – especially for the Stara Zagora Opera's Orchestra and international Corps de Ballet, in a close collaboration with the choreographers, whose aim was to make something modern, avant-guarde - to bring innovation and authenticity to the classical arts.
"The vision [Mark and Mark] had for Odon matched our personalities and our choreographic desires," says Marcello Molina.
The performance was presented at the Stara Zagora Opera House stage, Bulgaria, on August 17th, under the baton of conductor Anthony Armore, to a completely a sold-out house.
